Arguably the most anticipated video game release of 2022 is the Switch title The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2.
We still don’t know much about it – including the title. Back at E3 last year, Bill Trinen mentioned how Nintendo “held back” from sharing the name to avoid revealing too much.
With that in mind, veteran video game journalist Paul Gale – who runs his own website, has appeared in Nintendo Power, and worked with various other video game outlets over the years – has shared a new blog post titled : “Botw sequel’s name is (was ) The Legend of Zelda: Breath of Duality“.
Gale’s “information” usually comes from friends he’s made in the industry over the past 12 years. Here’s his latest rumor which doesn’t come from a direct source, but which he says was still worth sharing:
“…BotW’s sequel and its main hook are right in the name, which establishes the 2017 hit’s “Breath” familiarity and nods to the fact that you can play more than just the aforementioned title link ( including various polar themes), hence “Duality”.
“Duality between characters’ abilities, on land and in floating regions, past and present, dark and light, etc. (The individual noted that this name was seen a considerable time ago, so-called, and could have been one of many model titles.”
“…If it is real, it makes sense to understand why Nintendo and Mr. Eiji Aonuma have been so tight-lipped about the title. makes an interesting topic to discuss.”
As Gale noted, what was seen by the source could have been one of many title patterns at an earlier stage in Breath of the Wild 2’s development.
Nintendo Prime YouTuber also mentioned in his recent live chat show how he spoke directly to Gale and was told about the reliability of the source:
“If you find out who his source is, it won’t happen… I’m not going to tell you who his source is, he can confirm in chat – me and him [Paul Gale] had a private conversation, I know how he got this information…me and Paul have a trust, I’m not going to break that trust just to reveal sources…all I can tell you is that he is someone who is quite reliable.”
Here’s what Bill Trinen had to say during an interview with IGN last year when asked about the name of BOTW 2:
“As to why we’re withholding the name, you’ll just have to stay tuned because obviously the names in Zelda are pretty important…These subtitles…they’re starting to give little hints about maybe be what will happen.” to arrive.”
