Meta has announced that it will be hosting its second Meta Quest Gaming Showcase on April 20.
The event will highlight several new games and updates coming to the Meta Quest 2 platform in the near future, although we may already have a good idea of what fans can expect.
Based on revelations from previous Meta showcases, as well as Quest 2 games which have been announced at events and in press releases more recently, we’ve selected six titles likely to get some screen time.
From GTA San Andreas VR to Peaky Blinders: The King’s Ransomwe think there will be something for everyone on April 20.
GTA San Andreas VR
Although we didn’t get any gameplay footage, the high quality of Resident Evil 4 VR has left fans hoping that another gaming classic will be recreated in the same way in this new medium.
Six months after its reveal, we think it’s time for Meta to at least give us a taste of what we can expect from San Andres VR. However, while a gameplay trailer seems like a near certainty, we’re not expecting a release date at this time.
We could be wrong, but given the scope of GTA San Andreas, we anticipate that the VR port will need some time to work well.
Among us VR
The hugely popular social deduction game was revealed to be getting a VR port during the Game Rewards 2021and it looks like we’ll have more details at the next Meta showcase.
That’s because InnerSloth, the creators of Among Us, confirmed on Twitter that it will be at the April event with “new bean images”. This most likely means we’ll get a glimpse of Crewmate’s tasks, moves, and maybe some roles.
at the head of Crewmates, we are going to be in the Meta Quest Gaming Showcase!March 30, 2022
A promise of gameplay footage and nothing else implies that we may not have a release date yet, but the team might surprise us.
Among Us VR is a collaboration between InnerSloth and Schell Games (I Expect You to Die, Lost Recipes). There’s a lot of talent working on this title, so we’re extremely excited to see what they show.
Peaky Blinders: The King’s Ransom
Fans of the series will be chomping at the bit for Peaky Blinders: The King’s Ransom news, and the Meta Quest Gaming showcase will be the perfect time for Maze Theory to make an announcement.
The developers have already talked a lot about what players can expect when the game releases later this year, but so far we haven’t seen much gameplay. Additionally, while Maze Theory confirmed a 2022 release, it remained tight-lipped when asked to provide a firm date.
The Meta Quest Gaming showcase will provide it with a great opportunity to finally unveil some gameplay footage, and maybe even a solid release date for when Quest 2 players can try the game out for themselves.
Beat Saber Updates
These showcases don’t just reveal brand new games, they also let fans check out updates to their favorite titles.
One of the most popular VR games is Beat Saber, and last October Meta announced some new content – with a barely 10-second clip showing a strange design of a sword cutting through a single block.
Most predictions are that it teases a new campaign mode or improved customization options – perhaps to help players find a more unique style in multiplayer as VR embraces the metaverse.
Beat Games has released several updates to their game since the announcement, including one Fall Out Boy Music Pack – but the strange sword has not yet appeared. We think the upcoming showcase would be the perfect time to change that and finally tell fans what was teased last year.
Pistol Whip developer’s next game
Less of a prediction and more of a hope on our part, it’s that Cloudhead Games might be discussing its new “next-gen VR” title.
It’s only Just announced that he was working on the game – so it’s probably not too far along in development – but given how amazing Pistol Whip is, we’re already desperate to find out more about what Cloudhead Games has up its sleeve.
Even more interestingly, in the announcement of the blog post, there is some odd formatting in the sentence: “We Aam delighted to Aannounce theAWe have started working on new next-gen VR titles with deeper scope and insight.
The decision to capitalize and embolden three Aces has led many to speculate that Cloudhead is developing what it considers a AAA game – a designation given to expansive, well-funded hits like Elden Ring, Pokemon Legends Arceus, and Horizon Forbidden West.
If True, Cloudhead’s Next Game Could Become The New best VR game there – although we’ll have to wait and see what he announces whether it’s at the April showcase or at an event in the future.
Whatever is announced during the Meta Quest Gaming showcase, you can be sure we’ll be here to bring you all the latest information on games coming to Quest 2.
